I've gathered all of my Simple Woman's Daybook Posts and put them here, like a peek into my life.  I was reading through them, and realized that I started linking up with Peggy in 2008, today is February 24, 2021.  It's been 13 years since I started.  I have not been consistent, but it's still fun to have all of the posts gathered on one page, even if it's just for me.
The comments for this page have been turned off, you can look up the label Simple Woman's Daybook if you want to comment on something you see, just look for the date when the label pops up.

For Today

February 22,2021

Looking out my window

The warmth of the sun is a very welcome blessing today, a week ago SW Arkansas saw a low of 2 degrees.  It's supposed to reach 65 today, and 68 tomorrow, with rain the rest of the week.  There are still bits of snow on the ground from the 12 inches that fell here at our home.

I am thinking

Trying to think on "Whatever is...."
Philippians 4:8
I'm tired due to not taking care of myself wisely.  I tend to focus on the negative lately, not verbally as much as vocally, but enough that it is filtering into the physical side of things.

One of my favorite things

Dog and cat hair on my sofa and clothes.
I do vacuum, the goal is once a day, however
I saw a meme once that said,
"Rich people have fancy names on their clothes,
Happy people have dog/cat hair on their clothes.".
I love my furbabbies, we were not in anyway looking to add to our household, but 3 of them are rescues, 1 indoor cat, 1 outdoor cat, and the female dog.  2 of them are results of the rescue, 1 indoor cats and the male puppy (at this time he is 2 and weighs 80 lbs.)

I am creating
An 1830's dress, baby things for a new granddaughter arriving very soon, and things for my Etsy shop.

I am wearing

Long sleeve shirt, denim skirt, and house shoes.

I am reading (read) /watching (watched) / listening to

I am considering watching The Chosen.
If you have seen this I would love for you to leave a comment.  Currently I am very careful about Scripture being added to, and have read a cautious, yet gentle,  warning regarding the show, and believe I can get past this, but for reasons I will not get into, I prefer Scripture Only.  Having said that, I'm curious for any input.

I am hoping

Hebrews 10:23 He Who Promised Is Faithful - Free Bible Art ...

I am learning (the hard way)

Without God I am nothing,
With Him I can do all things.
Thank you Michelle Lesley for this post.

(my notes)
I am His child, and therefore I am precious to Him, however, even on my best day I still fall short, yet Jesus loves me.  He loved me, and you, enough to go to the cross for me, and you too. No wonder all those pretty fluff memes just did not work for me, if anything I felt worse.  If I stop and fill up on His word, it's like gas in my tank.  Poor analogy I know, but it's as close as I can get.

In my kitchen

Massive clean tomorrow, hubby was off work for over a week, and we just enjoyed the time together, so although I did clean daily, it is time for a scrub down.

In my garden
Wishing I could!

For Today
September 13, 2017

Looking out my window

I confess, this was taken in August, but it's so beautiful, and
I really needed a rainbow today.

I am thinking
Way too much going on up there to share,
need to do a brain dump.

I am thankful
That our oldest grandson got out of Irma's path and his family was able to return safely and only to have downed limbs, and fence panels to deal with-well that and no electricity.

One of my favorite things
Some days just showing up is half the battle.

I am creating
Memories, always and forever, moment by moment, one hug, one kiss,
one smile, one tear at a time.

Oh, and these...

I am wearing
What I chose to dress myself in, I'm an adult, I can wear what I want.

Sorry for the "snarky" coming through,
I'm wearing work out clothes because they
are comfortable, and I liked the color.

I am listening to
A playlist on spotify (I just downloaded the app to listen to it)
created by Ashley @ashley.beaudin
who has started a movement called #theimperfectboss on IG.

These young women are fantastic, they are campaigning to celebrate your imperfections.
I'm humbled by their honesty, and as a mother and grandmother just want to wrap each one in my arms and say "How very brave you are"!

I am hoping
That the heart of what these young women are revealing catches on, being real, being open, embracing each other "warts and all" as my generation says.  We need to realize that imperfect should be "I'm Perfect just as I am" and impossible should be "I'm Possible" (Audrey Hepburn).

I am learning
That being 50 does not have to mean I can't learn new things, it's just a stepping stone in a wonderful journey.  AND that I can listen to at least some of this newer music, truth be told, I'm enjoying it!

In my kitchen
Getting ready for a weekend of primitive (pre-1840) camping, IOW unplugging!

In my garden

My new favorite product

Yes, I'm in Direct Sales, yes I'm sharing a product I sell, I'd love your feedback
on this one, no purchase necessary.

From the Office

Yes, sometimes my office is my bathroom.
Learning how to post and share how-to's for my home based business.
I guess it's true, "You're never too old to learn something new"!

For Today
August 24, 2017

Looking out my window

I am thinking
That with all the rain we have had this spring and summer,
we very well could not only actually have a fall,
but a very beautiful one.

I am thankful,
for all the blessings bestowed upon me,
but mostly for my husband, who is also my best friend.

One of my favorite things
cool, crisp days.

I am creating
a stock pile of things to take to our local Farmer's Market.

I am wearing
work out clothes.

I am watching
When Calls the Heart.

I am hoping
To be able to find a good supply of Arkansas Black Apples,
to make pie filling and apple butter with.

I am learning
How to use the fancy stitching on my new sewing machine.

In my kitchen
A tad bit of a mess right now, it'll be there when I get to it.

In my garden
Just some flowers and herbs in pots.

For Today
November 14, 2016

Looking out my window
The sun comes and goes, the few remaining leaves are hanging on for dear life, rustling branches, and rolls of hay in the pasture in front of our house.

I am thinking
How very blessed I am, I have a warm home, great friends and a healthy family.

I am thankful
For all of Gods blessings, especially hot cocoa on a chilly day.

One of my favorite things
Cuddly Kittens on crisp cool Fall Days.

I am creating
A Banner and new dress for Mountain Man Rendezvous camping (everything is pre-1840)

I am wearing
Jeans, a Thermal shirt, and a warm sweater.

I am reading
Reading the Book of Job, in the Bible

I am hoping
That my simple post finds anyone who may read it well.

I am learning
To be a bit more gracious in my speech and action, while a bit of salt can be good, it can also burn.

In my kitchen
Not much right now, just 2-3 dishes in the sink.  But getting ready for some sloppy joe's on home made buns!

In the school room
Just me now....
Learning how to effectively and efficiently work my home based business on social media!

Outside my window...

Rain, Rain, and more Rain,

I am thinking...

About how God is watering the garden

I am thankful...

God loves me enough to bless me with tomatoes and peppers.

In the kitchen...

Pizza rolls before church.

I am wearing...

Denim skirt and T-Shirt.

I am creating...

A mess, as usual.

I am going...

To church in a bit.

I am wondering...

If this rain pattern really will last till October.

I am reading...

Game of Thrones and Pride and Prejudice.

I am hoping...

My cat lets me sleep all night.

I am looking forward to...

This weekend.

I am learning

That the learning never does stop.

Around the house...

Getting ready for chuch.

I am pondering...

How GREAT HE really is.

A favorite quote for today...

Courage is being scared to death and saddling up anyway-

John Wayne

One of my favorite things...

FOR TODAY
October 16, 2013
Outside my window...
Rain, Rain, & more Rain

I am thinking...
I need to get back into my routines

I am thankful...
For the rain

In the kitchen...
Nothing yet, school and dinner preps in a few.

I am wearing...
Warm socks, jeans & a sweatshirt

I am creating...
Potholders (crochet) and a new dress.

I am going...
To bed early tonight.

I am wondering...
If we will actually have a winter here in NE TX.

I am reading...
The Humorous Mr. Lincoln

I am hoping...
I can get a few meals in the freezer

I am looking forward to...
Sunshine

I am learning
I am not 20 anymore

Around the house...
Quiet

I am pondering...
Where the time has gone

A favorite quote for today...
The philosophy of the school room in one generation will be the philosophy of government in the next.
Abraham Lincoln

One of my favorite things...
Ice Cream

A few plans for the rest of the week:
Update lesson plans for my cake decorating class.

A peek into my day...

FOR TODAY October 30, 2012

Outside my window... Sunshine and Longhorns

I am thinking... I'd rather be gardening.

I am thankful... I'm in NE Texas.

In the kitchen... Scrounging for lunch.

I am wearing... Jeans, t-shirt, jacket.

I am creating... Mess after mess, not really, I'm just making and gathering a few staples like home made deodorant and master mix (Bisquick).

I am going... Stir crazy, I really need to get out.

I am wondering... If I'll have any more Bell Peppers to bring in this year.

I am reading... The Bible, I haven't started a new "other" book yet.

I am hoping... To fix some sort of cover for my peppers to weather the winter.

I am looking forward to... Some me time.

I am learning... Patience, I'm not doing very well.

Around the house... Project that need finishing.

I am pondering... Lots of things, I've decided I have ADD, or ADHD, AND CDO (same as OCD but the letters are in alphabetical order like they should  be).

A favorite quote for today...  "SO"  this is from Madea's Big Happy Family, the bible according to Madea, when someone does something to you, you get them back and then say "SO", because the Bible says "Let the redeemed of the Lord say so".  Now I know that's not what it means, but it does make me chuckle and God knows we could all use a chuckle and some serious lightening up.

One of my favorite things...  Warm socks.  I mean, fuzzy, ugly, goes to the knee, no shoe is gonna fit over these, make your feet sweat, socks.

A few plans for the rest of the week:...  Gather supplies to make another batch of laundry detergent.

A peek into my day...

This is Mrs. Pippens, she currently resides in the pasture (not ours) behind our house, her owners live down the road.  We have nicknamed her TOUCHDOWN, can you tell why?  I'm sorry I could not get closer, I'm just not brave enough to go into the pasture when there are more than Longhorn nearby and I may have to jump the fence, which is barbed wire.

Taylor Swift (on the left) and one of her friends were nearby and did not really look up to a visitor in the pasture, so I took the pictures on my phone from my side of the fence.

Some of the others hanging out in the pasture are Reba, Boot Scoot Boogie, Miranda (who was 2" short of having the longest horns at a show 2 years ago), Loretta Lynn, Cowboy Cassinova, Fancy, Lady Antebellum, can you see the theme here?  I used to go out and have coffee with some pretty impressive names.

Link up rules.

FOR TODAY (October 20, 2008)...
Outside My Window... The sunshine is warming the nip in the air, slowly.
*
I am thinking... It is time to switch to half decaf, I am far to dependant on cafine.
*
From the learning rooms...In Rome, headed for the birth of Christ, I am so excited....
*
I am thankful for... Intellegent people (nuf said)
*
From the kitchen... Perk, Perk, Perk, with sausage & Eggs
*
I am wearing... still in my robe, going on a field trip today, getting husband fed and out before getting ready.
*
I am creating... A place of peace and harmony.
*
I am going... To one of my favorite places to visit, Jefferson, TX, with my Mother-in-Law, my favorite travel buddy.
*
I am reading... I read Miss Jocelyn's Decoding the Proverbs 31 Woman last night, very insightful.
*
I am hoping... To find some Jadite dishes at a flea market for way under market value, so I can re-sell them on ebay and help pay off our land.
*
I am hearing... The news on one TV, the coffee perkalator, and music on the other TV, I am turning that one off.
*
Around the house... Husband talking to his mom, 22yo son getting ready to leave for work, 12yo son getting up, 10yo daughter washing her hair, mom is lining everyone out.
*
One of my favorite things... Going to Jefferson, TX with my MIL.
*
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week: Search my materials on hand for good material to use for History, Rome-the birth of Christianity. Want to be in Rome at about 1 AD at Christmas time. We are currently at Julius Ceasar.
*
I don't have a picture to share right now, the only way I have to take pictures is my laptop and it is not practical to haul it around like a camera, sorry. Maybe I'll post one of our trip, if I remember to haul my camera with me.
*
Note.... We had a GREAT time, did not get to go looking for dishes, but I love old towns full of old buildings. This town has been around for, well since way before the civil war and is full of Bed & Breakfasts. Jefferson, TX used to be a port town, comparable in size to New Orleans at one time. It has spanish moss hanging from the trees and the people there are absolutely charming, as is the town. No pictures yet, sorry.
