Ya wanna know what really makes me mad?
Warning I tend to have diarrhea of the mouth at times and this may very well be one of them.....
We watched the Game Sunday (the one with the Cowgirlsboys) in it. Most of the family are fans, I used to be but there just does not seem to be the same "class" (if a foot ball team can have class) on the team.
So I'm watching this game right, and this 40 year old, no body wants anymore, phenomenon, called Brett Farve, is having a kick butt day. Now I'm not a Viking fan, and I am certainly NOT a Packers fan, I would rather see anybody win than the Packers, does that tell you who my team is, but I know talent when I see it. To be honest too, this guy is a fighter, and if that is what 40 is supposed to look like someone needs to promote physical fitness to older men..... Just sayin', I mean let's lose the beer belly. Ok, I'm running on.
So The Vikings are ahead, and with 2 minutes to go they go for it. They do what they are supposed to do, they have an opening and they take it. THAT IS THE POINT OF THE GAME. It's a game. There is a winner. Can you say DUHHUH???
So this Cowboy guy Keith Brooking, follows Brett and the receiver who made the touchdown (uh that's what they get paid to do), yelling and screaming like a 2 year old. COME ON. Hey's hollering about how classless it was to run the score up. I'm thinking this guy started playing T-Ball when they stopped keeping score and everyone got a trophy. I have NO problem losing, I lost as a kid, ALL the time. I did not get a trophy for every single thing I did, and I am fine. It taught me to be tougher instead of a, well you know.
Now, just to give credit where credit is due, Romo did his job, he was just up against a VERY tough defense. Honestly I don't think we have seen what Romo can do yet, I think he has some untapped talent that is about to blow us all away.
So, my point? If that KB guy were MY son, I wouldn't' care how old he was or how much he made, mama would be out there on TV making him apologize for showing his butt. It was not the Vikings acting in a classless manner, they were doing what they get paid to do, it was him.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Fox Peanut Gallery Pre-Game, Half Time, and Post Game Team Terry Bradshaw and Curt Menefee, analysts Howie Long and Jimmy Johnson, and comic prognosticator Frank Caliendo. These guys are the BEST part of the game. I especially love Terry Bradshaw, loved him in the 70's, he is SO COOL... I heard him in an interview one time talking about a trip somewhere and someone wanted him to go eat sushi, he informed them that where he came from that is called BAIT.
So after the game Terry and Jimmy (who I have grown to appreciate) debated the Vikings going for it. Terry said if he were QB he would not have done it. Jimmy (and I cannot believe I agreed with Jimmy) said "This was a butt kicking, if you don't want your butt kicked play harder". I LOVE it. This is what football is about, kicking butt. I remember the days when the Jerseys were red with blood!!! Now THAT was football. Who remembers the Mean Joe Green coke commercial?
That's just my 2 cents worth though, boy I feel better.... I may have upset some but oh well I tend to do that. Oh, and if you wonder what shirt I will be wearing on Super Bowl Sunday, it's my BEARS one. See, I told you I was used to losing, but that's okay, we have next season!!!!

Lol! You sound as passionate about this as I am about college football. I just have never gotten into the NFL.. but my BYU Cougars, oh I love them!
Omgsh, you are really fired up about this! I have to say that like your previous commentor, I am more into college football (GO HOGS!!) than NFL, but I do have one team that I root for and that's any team with Brett Favre on it! What can I say?! I was sooo glad that he had a great game after all the negative press he's gotten lately. You're a fan of Romo - but I won't hold it against ya! :) LOL!! :)
I absolutely loathe the Cowboys, but I was torn on this game because I was sort of rooting for Brett Favre to fail. My whole thing is that if you say you're going to retire, then retire--*cough! cough! Jay Leno!*
But I thought that was a completely fair play. You are so totally right. Why are these "adults" so up in arms about losing by 7 additional points? If they didn't want to lose or wanted to keep the margin smaller, they should have blocked that play and kept the touchdown from happening. And then crying about it just makes them look worse.
Emmy, I LOVE College football too, UT & A&M mostly, but love to watch UofI (Illinois) when I can. I have noticed that I enjoy College Football more than Pro. I grew up watching Bradshaw, Stauback, Rosey Greer, Mean Joe Green, WALTER PAYTON, & Lynn Swann.
Amy, it's not that I'm a Romo fan, (not really a Cowboy fan) I just enjoy a good game, and I think Romo has the potential to be one of the best players to hit the field.
Karen, I kind of agree with you about Farve, he was going to retire for health reasons, but things took a turn for the better. I have enjoyed watching him from time to time, because he LOVES this game, like the players of old. I grew up a Cowboy fan, but have noticed that there was a level of CLASS that team had that was just lost when Landry left. Most of the locals here in NE Texas agree. They have yet to gain that back and last weeks game prove their point. So you lost, someone wins someone loses, it's called a game. Yes, it is their job, but hey take that loss, man-up, and use that to inspire you to do better. So far everyone here I have talked to agrees with my opinion of the Dallas players actions, GROW UP.
Oh, and I think they SHOULD put the touch down dance BACK IN. Again, GROW UP. Sounds to me like too many moms are in charge of football these days and they don't want their babies feelings hurt. Getting beat, and watching the other team do the TD Dance, build character. Like they say in cooking, if you can't stand the heat GET OUT of the kitchen.
Oh, and in case you missed it, my team is Chicago, doesn't matter what game or sport, although I prefer the Cubs to the Sox, I love Chicago, so you see losing has made me loyal, and hopeful. Not a whinny weeny.
